An Explorer lesson that includes activities which develop a visual referent to the concept of an inch.

Description:

This activity gives the students the opportunity to see what an inch really looks like. It also provides them with a chance to be creative using various inch materials and to create a visual referent for what an inch is.

Objective: The student will be able to:

  1. Measure various materials using an inch ruler.
  2. Create an inch poster.
  3. Share designs with others.

Resources:

Inch rulers, glue, scissors, 1 piece of construction paper, (ribbon, paper, yarn, string - will be cut into 10-inch pieces of materials).
