Home Page URL: Mathematics Learning Forums: http://www.edc.org/CCT/mlf/MLF.html
Brief Description: The Mathematics Learning Forums offer teachers the opportunity to do mathematics with their students and talk about mathematics with their colleagues through on-line seminars. The forums are designed to help teachers introduce new mathematics teaching practices in their classrooms in accordance with current nationwide mathematics reform efforts. Each forum runs on an 8-week cycle and is hosted by a Bank Street College faculty facilitator.
Stated purpose: The focus of the forums is on the "how" of mathematics instruction, providing ongoing support to teachers as they implement reform in their own classrooms. Participants actively exchange ideas, share concerns, and construct new understandings as they converse with colleagues and build on-line community. Each forum focuses on a particular area of instruction, including such topics as: mathematical content, student learning, teaching strategies and assessment techniques.
