| The Mathematics Assessment Resource Service (MARS) works with districts and states on performance assessment design and implementation, and on professional development for designers and teachers. MARS provides consultancy and training of two broad kinds: assessment design for student assessment and system monitoring; and professional development for and through performance assessment. Examples of tasks that students tackle in performance assessment; descriptions of balanced assessment project materials, resources for assessment design, resources for professional development, and brief outlines of MARS' ongoing work with school districts, urban systemic initiatives (USIs), and other current clients.
